WordPress is the most widely used system for building websites. It runs on our hosting without problems, because the hosting meets all its requirements.
What WordPress needs
| PHP | a current 8.x version, see Choosing a PHP version. For a new website choose the default version. |
| Database | MySQL or MariaDB. On our hosting, the database is part of the service and the number of databases is not limited. |
| Memory | the standard 512 MB is more than enough, see PHP memory limit. |
| HTTPS | recommended, see SSL and HTTPS. |
The current requirements are listed on the official WordPress website; if you are not sure, check them there.
Manual installation
- Create a database and a user in the hosting admin panel. Write down the database name, the user and the password. More information is in the article How to access the database.
- Download WordPress from cs.wordpress.org and unpack it on your computer.
- Upload the files via FTP to the website directory, see How to create an FTP account and FTP, SFTP and FTPS.
- Open your domain in a browser. The installer will start.
- Enter the database details. The database server address is usually localhost. If the installation reports a connection error, verify it in the admin panel or ask us about it.
- Fill in the website name and create an administrator account. Choose a strong password and do not use the username admin.
After installation
- Log in at yourdomain.cz/wp-admin.
- In Settings > Permalinks choose pretty URLs (for example based on the post name).
- Remove unused themes and plugins.
- Set up updates and backups.
