Web design is the set of all the steps that need to be taken in creating a web presence. The process is divided into many phases, from designing the website through its implementation to launching it on web hosting.
The phases can be broken down even further, and first of all the functionality and goal of the website need to be carefully discussed, then the structure of the website is worked out, followed by the graphic design, and then the creation of the template and styling (CSS).
After this first phase, the actual programming of the website follows, along with connecting it to the prepared graphic template. Various languages are used in programming, from (X)HTML, through JavaScript and AJAX to Java applets. After this phase the website can be launched.
In the final phase, content is added to the website, which can be created by administrators or directly by users.
Sometimes search engine optimization (SEO) or copywriting is also counted as part of web design.
