CSS

‹ Glossary

CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets. It is a special language that stores information about the layout and overall appearance of a web page.

Use

A web page consists of several parts: HTML tags, the text itself, CSS styles and, for example, JavaScript. Cascading styles use a style sheet, which determines how various elements of the page should look, for example how big they are or what color they have.

CSS styles can be written in several ways. We can write them directly into the page or put them in a separate file. If CSS did not exist, pages would be displayed as plain, unformatted text.
