Brute force (password guessing)

‹ Glossary

An attack in which a bot automatically tries a large number of passwords until one works. It most often targets the login page of a content management system. You can defend against it with a strong password, two-factor authentication, a limit on the number of attempts, and by changing the default login address. See Strong passwords.
