Hyperlink

‹ Glossary

A hyperlink is a part of the text that you can click to get to another page or file, either on your own website or on someone else's.

A special link can also simply “jump” to another place on the same page. The last type of link is the so-called mailto link, which opens an email client window if the user has one installed.

Links are most often set apart from regular text by color or in some other way, and they are usually underlined. Links are the basic building block of web pages, and of the HTML language. They are just as important for creating backlinks and for search engine optimization (SEO).
