The so-called safe_mode is one of the PHP configuration options. When safe_mode is on (On), PHP introduces some additional security restrictions (disabled functions, extra checks when working with
files, etc.). It was one of the attempts to secure shared web servers so that customers could not harm one another or reach each other's files.
Securing servers with safe_mode is outdated and should not be used. It was removed entirely in PHP 5.4, so it no longer exists in the PHP versions offered today, 8.2 to 8.5.
On our web hosting, safe_mode is off (Off) by default, and we recommend leaving it that way. Security is handled in other ways. Turning it on would, on the contrary, bring customers more restrictions. So there is no need to worry about whether safe_mode is on or off, or whether it can be turned on or off here. Customers on our web hosting do not need it at all, and turning it on or off cannot affect any of your PHP applications.
